New York: 25.06.18

I arrived safely in New York at 9am after an pleasant flight, albeit with very little sleep 😓 I took a Yellow cab from JFK to my hotel. My driver was a chatty Russian guy who has lived in New York for 23 years. It is interesting driving into the City through places like Jamaica, Flushing and Queens, my driver was telling me which areas house which people, Flushing is all Russian, Jamaica is African American, some parts are Chinese others Indian, it seemed quite clearly segregated, at least in his opinion and possibly getting more so.

The Manhattan Skyline is amazing!

My hotel is in a great location, it’s basic but clean and cool.

I have spent the last 4 – 5hrs walking around Times Square then down to the Hudson River where I walked the Highline, an inner city park built on an abandoned rail track. It winds its way through an area rife with development, huge high rises, I’m not sure if they are offices or apartments but there are a lot of them! It’s a really interesting part of New York that I have not seen before.

I am now resting my feet in a lovely cafe opposite my hotel, glass of Rose, nibbles, free WiFi! Watching the world go by, trying to ignore how tired I am, as I can’t go to bed for at least another 5hrs……
